Data Engineer (Python/SQL)

Location: Remote within the United States, based in Arlington, VA; occasional ad hoc travel to client locations may be required.

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain intake forms, role-based dashboards, workflow routing, notifications, audit logging, and other application components.
• Design relational and list-based data structures supporting routing, threshold logic, versioning, and historical reporting.
• Build data pipelines that ingest, validate, transform, and load data from Excel, CSV, forms, and enterprise systems.
• Write and optimize SQL, develop REST API and JSON integrations, and support data quality checks.
• Create reporting views, dashboards, automated documents, and executive summaries covering request status, SLA compliance, and performance metrics.
• Participate in Agile delivery, testing, code reviews, deployments, documentation, defect resolution, and collaboration with analysts, product owners, testers, and client stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in software development, data engineering, or a closely related technical role; relevant internship, research, academic, or personal project experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, including relational database design and data modeling.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and SharePoint Online.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, Git-based workflows, technical documentation, and written requirements.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and work remotely within the United States.

Nice to have

• VA or federal health IT experience.
• PostgreSQL, TypeScript or JavaScript, React, Power BI, Grafana, Docker, or GitHub Actions experience.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum delivery, data quality, audit logging, regulated environments, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Advanced degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.
