ETL Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Hybrid in Chantilly, Virginia, with one to three days per week onsite. The role requires an active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligibility, and the ability to pass a CI polygraph.

Salary: $90,360.09–$201,581.46 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance ETL and ELT pipelines.
• Extract, transform, and load data from relational databases and multiple file formats.
• Develop Python data adapters for a web-based search and analytics application.
• Optimize SQL queries and data workflows for speed and scale.
• Work with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch and support data integration across enterprise systems.
• Collaborate in Agile Scrum teams using version control and collaborative coding practices.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance, SCI eligibility, and ability to pass a CI polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including ETL/ELT pipelines, SQL optimization, and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL.
• 3+ years of Python development focused on ETL processes.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, Git, Bash, Docker, Linux, and Agile Scrum.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of data quality, validation, monitoring, governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Experience with data warehousing, big data frameworks, and API-based enterprise data integration.
• Strong understanding of data transformation, cleansing, and normalization.
