VP of Engineering (Federal Systems)

Location: Hybrid role for candidates located in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, or Virginia), with three days per week in the Rosslyn, VA office.

Salary: $170,000–$250,000 annually

What you will do

• Define the technical vision for hirify.global Labs and set architecture standards.
• Lead and manage a small engineering team while raising technical maturity.
• Work closely with product managers and leadership to translate strategic objectives into technical roadmaps.
• Guide the development of scalable, reliable, secure, and future-proof products and tools.
• Support growth and sales efforts through hands-on technical leadership, agile experimentation, and delivery cycles.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or technical leadership.
• Deep understanding of performance, scalability, security, reliability, and observability.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; containerization; microservices; and distributed systems.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and production application deployments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain architectural trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; certain roles may require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation or security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and securing federal systems, including FedRAMP, ATO, or zero-trust environments.
• Architecture framework certifications or experience, such as TOGAF.
• Experience designing and delivering production AI/ML systems at scale, including trust and explainability considerations.
• Experience combining AI/ML and non-ML components in system designs.
• Startup or fast-moving environment experience and prior government or federal contracting experience.
