Senior Software Engineer - Account Infrastructure

Location: San Mateo, California, United States. Office-based roles require onsite presence Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $196,750–$243,290 USD annual base pay, plus equity compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the complete lifecycle of full-stack authentication and security features, from technical specifications and implementation through rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
• Define the architectural direction for account authentication systems that can scale to 1 billion active users.
• Build, maintain, and improve user authentication and security infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Application Security, Roblox Core Services, and the broader Safety organization.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and drive adoption of core safety applications.
• Instrument user interactions, analyze usage metrics, and apply experimentation to improve product performance and user impact.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and implementing robust, high-throughput microservices and distributed systems handling thousands of requests per second.
• Full-stack proficiency with frontend technologies such as React, Vue, or Angular and backend technologies such as Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience building complex, production-grade systems with a strong focus on security, user safety, data integrity, and compliance.
• Degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or another technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, mentor peers, lead technical initiatives, and take ownership of key projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust, Go, or C#.
• Experience developing AI-centric solutions, machine learning capabilities, or agentic AI systems.
