Senior Wetland Biologist (Wetland Biology)

Location: Remote – Texas, with preference for Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, or San Antonio. Field work takes place throughout Texas and the U.S., with 30–60% travel and overnight trips of up to one week.

Salary: $67,355–$114,503 annually.

What you will do

• Lead field teams conducting wetland delineations, biological surveys, wildlife habitat assessments, and functional assessments.
• Apply the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and federal and state regulations to infrastructure project compliance challenges.
• Assess project impacts and prepare technical reports, USACE 404/10 permit applications, and mitigation plans.
• Review deliverables, provide quality assurance and quality control, and develop client relationships.
• Mentor, train, and guide junior staff while collaborating with biologists, project managers, and technical experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resource sciences, wetland science, wildlife, ecology, botany, forestry, environmental sciences, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience with wildlife habitat assessments, surveys, wetland delineations, WOTUS-related permitting, or related environmental field services.
• Ability to work independently in the field for extended periods, including in areas with limited mobile phone reception.
• Ability to travel to project sites, including overnight trips of up to one week, with increased travel during Texas spring and fall field seasons.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Texas environmental consulting practices, regulations, and species.
• Experience supporting renewable energy, transportation, water, or infrastructure clients.
• GPS experience and strong technical writing and permitting skills.
• Certified Wildlife Biologist or Professional Wetland Scientist certification.
