Wetland Biologist (Wildlife)

Location: Remote in Texas, with field work throughout Texas and the U.S.; Texas-based candidates preferred. Preferred locations include Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. Travel is 30–60%, including overnight project trips of up to one week.

Salary: $55,665–$94,631 annually.

What you will do

• Conduct wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, and functional assessments.
• Support field efforts independently and collaborate with senior biologists and project managers.
• Assess environmental impacts and prepare technical reports, permit applications, and mitigation plans.
• Apply the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Support projects for transportation, energy, water, renewable energy, and other infrastructure clients.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to project and business development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resource sciences, wetland science, wildlife, ecology, botany, forestry, environmental sciences, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience with wildlife habitat assessments, surveys, wetland delineations, WOTUS-related permitting, or related environmental field services.
• Ability to work independently in the field for extended periods, including in areas with limited mobile reception.
• Ability to travel to project sites and complete overnight trips of up to one week, with increased travel during spring and fall.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
• Strong oral, written, and technical communication skills, including quality assurance and quality control of deliverables.

Nice to have

• Experience with Texas environmental consulting practices, regulations, and species.
• Experience supporting renewable energy, transportation, water, or infrastructure clients.
• Experience using GPS technologies.
• Certified Wildlife Biologist or Professional Wetland Scientist certification.
