Senior Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Westchester, Illinois, United States. Candidates located near the Chicago, Fort Worth, Burnaby, or Mississauga headquarters may work hybrid from those offices.

Salary: $142,530–$178,110 per year

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable services, REST APIs, integrations, and event-driven systems.
• Improve reliability, performance, code quality, and the safe delivery of frequent production changes.
• Translate business and customer needs into technical solutions with Product Management and Product Engineering.
• Identify and resolve performance and scalability risks across product engineering teams.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers through pairing, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and feedback.
• Partner with Engineering Managers on team performance, hiring, organizational technical strategy, and engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, including hands-on backend development with Java or Go.
• At least 2 years of Staff Engineering experience supporting a minimum of four teams across a major business domain.
• Expertise in Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with relational and scalable NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of lean software development, pair programming, TDD, trunk-based development, and data-driven problem solving.
• Must be legally entitled to work in the United States. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with knowledge graphs and ML/AI feature stores.
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Experience publishing technical work and contributing to an organizational community of practice.
