TL;DR
Public Policy Researcher (Entry-Level, Hybrid, Summer 2027) (Federal Rulemaking and Policy Analysis): Supporting federal agencies with rulemaking, public-comment analysis, regulatory research, and policy recommendations with an accent on synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information. Focus on drafting reports and presentations, analyzing technical and policy documents, and managing multiple client projects under strict deadlines.

Location: Hybrid from the Reston, VA headquarters or Waltham, MA office; available starting Summer 2027

Salary: $50,386–$85,656 per year; anticipated pay in the low $60K range

What you will do

  • Support short- and long-term engagements for federal clients developing policies and regulations.
  • Manage and analyze public comments on proposed agency rules.
  • Draft and edit documents related to federal agency rulemakings.
  • Synthesize rulemaking documents, literature, and technical reports.
  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to develop recommendations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations, provide project updates, and discuss analyses with clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, government, environmental science, natural or physical science, political science, or a related field.
  • U.S. citizenship is required under federal contract requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of the federal rulemaking process.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a moderate-level government security clearance.
  • Detail-oriented and team-oriented approach with effective time-management strategies.
