Research Technician (Bernstein Lab) (Cancer Genomics)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; onsite with occasional remote work

Salary: $47,500–$51,300 per year

What you will do

• Conduct wet-lab procedures including pipetting, cell culture, PCR, Western blotting, and quantitative RT-PCR.
• Culture cancer cell lines and design, execute, and troubleshoot CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISPR interference gene-editing protocols.
• Prepare DNA and RNA for high-throughput sequencing and develop independent proficiency with long-read Nanopore sequencing.
• Perform cancer-immunologic assays to evaluate candidate tumor-antigen expression and immunogenicity.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare reports and research summaries.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, records, reagents, and compliance with safety procedures while sharing general lab-management duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in life sciences, preferably biology or chemistry.
• Prior research experience in a related biological research area beyond classroom work.
• Ability to analyze information, troubleshoot routine problems, and work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, record-keeping, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week and commit to the position for two years.
• Ability to work onsite in Boston, with occasional remote work.

Nice to have

• Experience in genomics or gene editing.
• Programming experience or interest in learning basic Python or R.
