TL;DR
Director, State Policy & Government Relations (Healthcare Policy): Leading state policy and government relations initiatives for Pfizer across Iowa, Minnesota, and additional assigned states with an accent on healthcare legislation, regulatory analysis, and advocacy strategy. Focus on developing policy platforms, influencing state policymakers, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, and managing grassroots, PAC, and lobbying programs.
Location: Remote in Iowa or Minnesota, United States. Travel is expected 50% of the time.
Annual base salary: $176,600–$294,300, plus a 20% bonus target and potential eligibility for a share-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do
- Lead a designated portfolio of state healthcare policy issues and serve as the enterprise-wide subject matter expert.
- Develop policy positions, principles, legislative language, research summaries, comment letters, testimony, and executive talking points.
- Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, political developments, and their implications for , patients, providers, and the healthcare environment.
- Develop and execute lobbying and government relations strategies across Iowa, Minnesota, and other assigned states.
- Coordinate with business units, Legal, Public Affairs, Federal Policy, Market Access, contract lobbyists, trade associations, and other stakeholders.
- Supervise outreach to policymakers, grassroots and political action programs, advocacy initiatives, and related budgets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in state policy or a related function with a bachelor’s degree; 7+ years with a master’s or MBA; or 5+ years with a PhD, JD, or PharmD.
- Significant experience in state healthcare policy and state government relations.
- Ability to analyze legislative and regulatory proposals and translate them into practical business and policy recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of state government processes, healthcare policy, political environments, and executive-level communication.
- Permanent U.S. work authorization is required. U.S. visa sponsorship is not available.

- Experience combining state policy strategy, policy analysis, and state-level government relations.
- Experience engaging policymakers, regulators, trade associations, and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing multiple policy issues and jurisdictions simultaneously.
