Environmental Technician I

Location: 500 Medco Rd, Birmingham, Alabama 35217, USA; onsite work with outdoor and non-climate-controlled indoor duties.

What you will do

• Consolidate, treat, store, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment to move containers between storage and treatment areas.
• Load and unload trailers and handle materials safely.
• Complete required documentation accurately, promptly, and legibly.
• Follow environmental regulations, customer procedures, and workplace safety requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand or walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods.
• Visual acuity, depth perception, and hearing sufficient to read documentation, operate forklifts, and respond to alarms.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled areas.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and a respirator.
• Regular attendance during scheduled hours, with occasional nights, weekends, and variable schedules as needed.

Nice to have

• Warehouse or manufacturing experience.
• Basic computer skills for web-based training.
• Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English.
• Professional communication with customers and coworkers.
