Location: Tempe, Arizona, or Carlsbad, California, United States. Specific salary ranges also apply to work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area. U.S. Citizenship required.
Salary: $141,500–$224,000 annually; $176,000–$264,000 annually for specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do
- Lead thermal analysis, modeling, design, development, qualification, and production transition for satellite thermal control systems.
- Develop thermal models, orbital simulations, environmental predictions, requirements, specifications, procedures, and qualification plans.
- Own thermal control subsystem design from concept development through qualification, integration, production, and on-orbit support.
- Lead thermal hardware integration, thermal vacuum testing, thermal cycling, design reviews, and thermal anomaly resolution.
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, reliability, supply chain, quality, and program management teams.
- Evaluate thermal technologies, materials, coatings, and heat-transfer processes while mentoring engineers and serving as a spacecraft thermal subject-matter expert.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of engineering experience, including thermal modeling and spaceflight hardware development.
- Experience leading thermal subsystem development and analysis for spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or other aerospace systems.
- Strong knowledge of thermal management, heat transfer, orbital environments, dynamic and environmental requirements for space applications.
- Experience with Thermal Desktop, ANSYS, or equivalent thermal analysis tools, as well as CAD software.
- Experience with thermal environmental qualification and acceptance testing, including thermal vacuum and thermal cycling.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree with a thermal or fluid focus.
- Experience with small satellites, broadband constellations, spacecraft buses, advanced thermal hardware, or launch vehicle interfaces.
- Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill and with production scaling of aerospace thermal hardware.
- Knowledge of spaceflight standards, workmanship requirements, and thermal qualification methodologies.
- Experience supporting suppliers, conducting root-cause investigations, driving corrective actions, and mentoring engineers.
