Director, Global Payroll (AI Automation)

Location: Remote within the United States, with Southern California specified

Base salary: $180,000–$200,000 per year, plus a target annual bonus of 20% of base salary.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the global payroll delivery team supporting payroll across 15+ countries.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing, filings, and issuance of W-2 and equivalent forms.
• Improve automation and integrations between Workday HRIS, ADP Workforce Now, Celergo, and benefits providers.
• Evaluate and implement AI and advanced automation for payroll processing, error detection, reporting, and root-cause analysis.
• Set up payroll for new entities, support regional expansion, and manage payroll system integrations during M&A activities.
• Report payroll KPIs to the CFO and maintain internal controls, compliance checks, and operational standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of payroll experience, including 5+ years of leadership experience in a global company.
• Experience with global expansion, payroll setup, M&A integrations, global tax, reporting, and payroll compliance.
• Deep experience with Workday HRIS, ADP Workforce Now, and Celergo.
• Experience leading payroll transformation, intelligent automation, finance outsourcing, AI adoption, change management, and digital transformation.
• Strong leadership, customer service, team development, and operational delivery skills; CPP certification is preferred.
