Global Payroll Manager (Workday)

Location: New York, New York, United States. Office-first culture with hybrid working models depending on the role and location.

Annual salary: $110,000–$130,000 USD, plus variable compensation, US benefits, and 401k plans.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five regional payroll specialists across time zones and geographies.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple countries, including statutory filings, payments, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
• Design the global payroll environment and transition payrolls from local providers to Workday native, in-house, or global payroll providers.
• Partner with People, Finance, and Technology teams on system design, testing, implementation, change management, and training.
• Provide expert guidance on US federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and support complex employee tax matters.
• Maintain SOX controls, audit readiness, reporting, KPI monitoring, process standardization, and automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing global payroll operations across regions such as Europe, North America, and South America.
• Strong knowledge of international payroll regulations, compliance requirements, and US personal tax regulations.
• Experience working in SOX-controlled environments, including audit protocols, documentation, segregation of duties, and internal controls.
• Experience leading remote or geographically dispersed teams.
• Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll or Workday implementation projects.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
