What you will do
- Manage a portfolio of customers’ monthly payroll operations from start to finish.
- Ensure staff are paid accurately and within specified deadlines.
- Update payroll systems with pay scales, pension rates, National Insurance rates, and tax thresholds.
- Calculate pay adjustments, holiday pay for leavers, and statutory maternity and paternity payments.
- Prepare accurate payments and reports for external stakeholders, including HMRC.
- Maintain compliance with GDPR and ISO 27001 data protection standards.
Requirements
- Degree-level education and/or a relevant payroll qualification.
- Previous experience processing payroll; education-sector experience is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of HMRC requirements, including tax, National Insurance, and statutory deductions.
- Experience with auto-enrolment pension schemes.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, data analysis, attention to detail, and multitasking under pressure.
- Proactive use of AI to improve work and a polite, empathetic, customer-focused approach.

- Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme or Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
