Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Fully remote, limited to candidates residing in Alabama, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Virginia. Occasional travel to client sites or company meetings may be required.

Salary: $120,588–$195,955 annually. Hiring range: $120,588–$142,000.

What you will do

• Develop accessible, maintainable full-stack features in Ruby on Rails for claimant- and employer-facing workflows.
• Build complex multi-page form flows, data models, validation logic, and user-facing dashboards.
• Develop integrations with state systems, APIs, and third-party SaaS tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers during Agile sprint delivery.
• Review pull requests and uphold code quality, testing, and maintainability standards.
• Mentor engineers, align stakeholders, manage delivery risks, and advise clients on technical solutions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of full-stack software development experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Production experience building complex multi-page form flows and data-driven user interfaces.
• Experience with external system, API, and third-party service integrations.
• Strong object-oriented programming, design patterns, data modeling, validation, and maintainable architecture skills.
• Experience with test-driven development and Agile collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience building accessible web applications that meet WCAG standards.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps and cloud-native web application development.
