Staff Software Engineer in Test (Robotics)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; eligible to work in the United States

Salary: $102,000–$120,000 base pay per year

What you will do

• Design and plan reliability tests that stress application resilience, safety, and fault tolerance.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop test automation using physical robotic hardware.
• Test Atlas software systems across web interfaces, network protocols, robot behavior, and ML model validation.
• Author execution reports to validate release readiness and communicate system stability.
• Identify SQA process and test coverage gaps and drive improvements in execution efficiency and reliability.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in software QA engineering, test automation, or software development, including shipped and supported product releases.
• Experience with manual and automated testing of complex electromechanical systems, including physical hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Strong test automation skills with Python, C#, or a similar programming language.
• Experience setting up, monitoring, and analyzing software reliability tests for robotic systems.
• Expertise in functional, integration, and regression testing, test planning, and defect lifecycle management with tools such as Jira.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and experience integrating and monitoring automated tests with tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Nice to have

• Experience testing real-time control systems or low-latency teleoperation hardware and software.
• Familiarity with UI/UX and backend validation for workflow sequencing or orchestration applications.
• Operational experience with Linux development environments and advanced shell scripting.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on complex cross-functional system failures.
