TL;DR
Controls Technician - North of England (HVAC): Commissioning, programming, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing HVAC direct digital control systems at customer facilities with an accent on end-to-end testing, graphics setup, communications links, and sequence validation. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment issues, coordinating field-service stakeholders, and maintaining reliable systems across healthcare, manufacturing, education, and office buildings.

Location: Bolton, Lancashire, UK; field-based work at customer locations across the North of England

What you will do

  • Commission, program, configure graphics and communications links, and perform end-to-end testing on assigned HVAC control projects.
  • Troubleshoot, service, diagnose, and repair equipment and direct digital control systems at customer sites.
  • Document point-to-point verification, sequence-of-operations validation, and project close-out requirements.
  • Work directly with customers and coordinate updates with service desks, sales, operations, field representatives, senior technicians, and regional service leaders.
  • Prepare reports on completed invoiced work orders and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Follow safety standards and maintain accurate records of company-issued assets, equipment condition, and usage.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a service or field-based technician role.
  • Knowledge of air-conditioning theory, pipe fitting, mechanical layouts, and HVAC control systems.
  • Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using apps, diagnostic software, hand tools, blueprints or engineering specifications, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborate effectively, and cover planned standby and call-outs, including weekends and bank holidays, travel, and overnight stays.
  • UK driving licence and existing right to work in the UK required.
