Senior Engineer (Frontend)

Location: Hybrid in London or Berlin, with 3 in-office days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for employees near a hirify.global site

What you will do

• Design and implement end-to-end web features across film discovery, catalogue, streaming playback, and editorial pages.
• Build media-player integrations, adaptive streaming experiences, dynamic video previews, and high-framerate media components.
• Optimize bundle size, Core Web Vitals, server-side rendering performance, and edge-caching strategies.
• Own technical scoping, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and observability for frontend features.
• Set standards for code quality, testing, code review, and maintainable frontend architecture.
• Experiment with coding agents and reusable AI prompts to deliver measurable engineering improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of frontend engineering experience building and operating complex consumer-facing web applications at scale.
• Expertise in React, TypeScript, Next.js, server-side rendering, the DOM, browser rendering, and web performance profiling.
• Knowledge of state management, HTTP and media protocols, and browser media delivery technologies including HLS, DASH, Widevine, FairPlay, and CORS.
• Experience with test-driven development using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright, plus strong CI/CD practices.
• Clear technical communication in an agile, cross-functional engineering environment and an independent, curious approach to product development.

• Experience in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and collaborating with product, marketing, finance, engineering, and design teams.
