Staff Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid setup. Up to six remote calendar weeks per year.

What you will do

• Lead the migration from Svelte to React while maintaining architectural coherence and delivery momentum.
• Maintain and evolve the design system with the frontend guild.
• Guide cross-team initiatives involving application architecture, performance, testing, developer experience, and technical debt.
• Raise UX and UI quality through design reviews, reusable patterns, mentoring, and technical writing.
• Identify effective agentic AI workflows and shape module boundaries, API contracts, and documentation for human and AI-assisted development.
• Drive a systemic frontend improvement from analysis through measurable delivery and help Senior Engineers grow.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience delivering systemic frontend or product-engineering improvements across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, component architecture, state management, design systems, accessibility, performance, testing, and maintainable application architecture.
• Daily experience with AI coding tools and practical understanding of agentic workflows.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous workflows and business constraints into effective user experiences.
• Ability to reason across frontend, backend, APIs, infrastructure, observability, security, and compliance.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node, Nest, MySQL, Kubernetes on AWS, GitHub, FusionAuth, Okta, Retool, Twilio, SendGrid, or Tally.
