Senior Director, Data Science

Location: Based in the New York City, Los Angeles, or Tempe office with a hybrid schedule requiring three in-office days per week, or remote in the San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, or Atlanta markets. Thursdays are required in-office days for team meetings and events.

Base pay: $240,120–$315,158 per year, plus potential equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Define and champion the strategic roadmap for advanced modeling and analytics programs.
• Lead multiple teams of data scientists and analysts, including managers and potentially managers of managers.
• Partner and negotiate with senior data and business leaders to align data science initiatives with enterprise objectives.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of advanced data pipelines, statistical and machine learning models, and analytical frameworks.
• Drive enterprise-wide delivery through organizational design, systems architecture, program management, and senior-level mentorship.
• Promote innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and ethical data practices while communicating impact and resource needs to executive leadership.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive industry or quantitative technical experience, including significant leadership experience.
• 8+ years working with SQL, R, and/or Python to query, manipulate, and analyze large, complex datasets.
• 8+ years building advanced data models, applying statistical modeling, advanced analytics methods, and/or large-scale data processing.
• 5+ years of progressive people management experience, including managing managers.
• Compliance with applicable laws and regulations and commitment to ethical data practices.

Nice to have

• Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative or technical field.
• Experience in healthcare, finance, and/or insurance, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
