Senior Director, Data Science

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $317,000–$443,800 USD per year, plus eligible equity and, depending on the position, commission.

What you will do

• Lead the consumer data science strategy across feed, recommendations, search, retrieval, and ranking systems.
• Partner with Consumer, Product, Engineering, and business leaders to define priorities, company-level bets, and tradeoffs.
• Establish measurement and experimentation frameworks covering offline evaluation, online experimentation, counterfactual analysis, guardrail metrics, and causal inference.
• Set durable standards for reproducibility, privacy, responsible AI, metric integrity, and self-serve measurement.
• Build multi-team roadmaps, operating mechanisms, analytical systems, and accountability structures that support reliable and scalable delivery.
• Recruit, develop, and retain Directors, managers, and senior individual contributors across multiple teams.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in data science, measurement, experimentation, causal inference, machine learning, data platforms, and analytical systems.
• Experience with user-generated content or community ecosystems and with improving consumer experiences while protecting privacy and analytical quality.
• Ability to connect model and system improvements to consumer value, content quality, trust, diversity, healthy participation, and long-term business outcomes.
• Senior leadership experience managing multi-team or multi-pillar organizations and delivering measurable business impact.
• Track record of recruiting and developing senior leaders, building leadership benches, and establishing high standards for coaching and performance.
• Exceptional communication and influence with senior product, engineering, and business stakeholders, including the ability to communicate uncertainty, risks, and tradeoffs.
