Senior Payment Platform Application Manager (Fintech)

Location: Portugal, hybrid work model. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, stability, and compliance of critical payment processing applications.
• Manage incident and change management processes in banking and financial services environments.
• Coordinate system integrations involving APIs, message queues, and clearing systems such as TIPS and RT1.
• Perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning across complex IT landscapes.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery of platform updates and enhancements aligned with regulatory standards.
• Drive security controls, fraud prevention, sanctions screening, automation, and DevOps practices.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in payment processing or related banking IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of European payment schemes, including SEPA SCT/SDD, SEPA Instant Payments, RT1, and T2.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, Windows Server, scripting, system monitoring, and relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of PL/SQL, SQL, application servers, REST/SOAP web services, and middleware architectures.
• Deep understanding of core banking systems, payment architectures, ISO 20022 message formats, and regulatory requirements.
• Fluent English and an existing legal right to work in the European Union are required.

Nice to have

• ITSM, ITIL, or DevOps certifications and experience.
• Knowledge of cloud environments and data-center operations.
• Experience with security frameworks, anti-fraud solutions, or compliance systems.
