TL;DR
Data Engineer (SQL/BigQuery/dbt): Bringing an existing data warehouse in-house, maintaining ERP-to-warehouse pipelines, and building tested data models for reporting with an accent on pipeline reliability, data quality, and business-facing analytics. Focus on taking ownership through a structured handover, implementing safe deployment practices, and translating business questions into reliable data solutions for operational and finance stakeholders.
Location: On-site in Kingswinford, Brierley Hill, Dudley, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Wolverhampton or Halesowen, UK. Full overlap with UK business hours, including the GMT/BST change.

What you will do
- Take ownership of the existing data warehouse following a structured handover from a third-party provider.
- Maintain and improve ERP-to-warehouse data pipelines, ensuring reliable and timely data delivery.
- Build and extend data models across staging, business logic, marts and reporting layers.
- Implement data quality tests and safe deployment practices using version control and disciplined branching.
- Answer business questions with data and communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders, including the CEO and directors.
- Co-own documentation, business definitions and the report library while providing reporting cover and occasional wider IT support.
Requirements
- On-site availability in the listed UK locations and full UK-hours overlap are required.
- 5+ years of data engineering experience for the global Senior route.
- Advanced SQL skills, including joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations and complex query debugging.
- 3+ years of commercial BigQuery experience and 3+ years of production dbt experience for the global route.
- Experience with Git or an equivalent version-control platform, data warehouse concepts, ELT, layered modelling and dimensional modelling.
- Experience with ERP data pipelines, managed connectors, data quality testing and safe deployment practices.
Nice to have
- Basic Power BI experience or familiarity with Looker, Tableau or another BI tool.
- Basic Python skills for scripts and automation.
- Experience with Oracle NetSuite or other ERP systems such as Dynamics, SAP or Sage.
- Awareness of and interest in AI and emerging technology.
- Experience owning pipelines or data models end to end.
