Senior Data Engineer (dbt & GCP)

Location: Hybrid in Adelaide, with flexibility across Bendigo, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, Australia

Salary: AUD 100,000–150,000 per annum

What you will do

• Lead technical design, engineering standards, and best practices across dbt projects.
• Build scalable GCP data pipelines using BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage.
• Develop reusable dbt macros, packages, and modular SQL and Python models.
• Drive automated testing and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Optimize BigQuery performance, scalability, and cost.
• Implement security controls for sensitive banking data, mentor engineers, and lead technical reviews.

Requirements

• Advanced production experience with dbt Core or dbt Cloud.
• Strong experience with GCP and BigQuery engineering.
• Advanced SQL and Python skills.
• Strong experience with Data Vault 2.0 and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Understanding of BigQuery security, data governance, PII/KYC controls, and technical leadership.
