Regional Data Centre Operations Director (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Remote across Europe, with specific availability in Germany, Ireland, and Spain

Salary: £185,000–£220,000 in the United Kingdom or €216,000–€257,000 in Europe, plus eligible equity and bonus

What you will do

• Lead technical oversight and service delivery across the EMEA data centre portfolio.
• Direct data centre management, logistics, asset and inventory, IT infrastructure, and service operations.
• Review and approve high-risk activities, including outages, capacity upgrades, customer fit-outs, deployments, and product refreshes.
• Manage critical vendors, colocation providers, IT integrators, OEMs, and subcontractors against stringent SLAs.
• Drive operational excellence, energy efficiency, risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and consistent operating standards.
• Build the EMEA operations organisation and act as the senior escalation point for customers, vendors, and site teams.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data centre facilities, IT infrastructure, or another critical environment.
• Experience leading data centre operations, infrastructure, or operations engineering teams.
• Strong experience establishing and managing processes in live critical environments, including incident, fault, risk, change, and business continuity management.
• Technical knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical cooling, fire and life safety, IT/OT systems, or compute, storage, and network infrastructure.
• Electrical, mechanical, or IT qualification to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale customers or other critical environments such as nuclear, aeronautics, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical operations.
• Membership of IET, IMechE, CIBSE, or a similar professional body.
• IT, data centre, or AI infrastructure certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, NVIDIA, or similar providers.
