Senior Software Engineer (Vue)

Waystar provides cloud-based healthcare payments technology that helps providers manage revenue-cycle workflows, payments, and financial operations.

What you will do

• Build, support, and maintain full-stack web applications for healthcare staff and patients.
• Develop client-side features with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and server-side functionality with PHP and SQL.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, and engineering teams to design and deliver new features.
• Create technical designs, upgrade legacy applications, and modernize frameworks and technologies.
• Improve test automation, code reviews, monitoring, logging, and release processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead the team’s technical roadmap.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience.
• Object-oriented programming experience, primarily with PHP.
• Experience with relational databases, especially MySQL.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks; the team uses Vue.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MVC frameworks, and unit and integration testing.
• Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous processing using AWS SQS, production monitoring, alerting, and agile development.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling real-time, high-availability APIs.
• Experience integrating payment gateways and processors.
• Knowledge of finance and banking concepts such as merchant accounts, ACH, and settlement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
