Research Scientist II, Gene R&D (NGS)

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States — fully onsite

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize high-throughput sequencing library preparation methods.
• Design customized library preparation workflows for Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Technologies platforms.
• Manage project timelines and coordinate internal resources to advance projects.
• Generate, analyze, interpret, and present biological data to broader teams.
• Collaborate with other teams to support smooth technology transfer.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
• More than two years of relevant experience developing scalable NGS workflows in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
• Broad knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology, with the ability to apply scientific judgment to solve problems.
• Hands-on experience building and using standard and customized bioinformatics pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, R, or Java.
• Extensive experience analyzing biological datasets and file formats including FASTQ, BAM, and VCF.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput NGS library preparation for clinical samples.
• Experience with cell-free protein expression.
