Location: 710 N. Fairbanks, Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite inpatient role with night shifts

What you will do
- Perform venipuncture and other laboratory specimen collections according to age-related standards and department procedures.
- Process, label, centrifuge, aliquot, freeze, package, and transport specimens while maintaining sample stability and integrity.
- Review physician orders, enter laboratory tests in multiple systems, verify result receipt, and follow up on outstanding orders.
- Provide patient communication and post-phlebotomy care while applying patient-safety practices.
- Monitor equipment, refrigerator temperatures, quality records, supplies, and biohazard-waste procedures.
- Communicate specimen-collection problems and completed or incomplete draws, charges, and results to laboratory and physician staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience, or CMA certification.
- Ability to work effectively on an inpatient laboratory team and provide clear patient communication.
- Ability to perform order entry, patient-information retrieval, laboratory reception, and other clerical duties.
- Ability to follow safety, regulatory, quality-control, and biohazard procedures.
Nice to have
- Experience with a broad range of patient types.
- Experience processing and transferring specimens and operating a centrifuge.
- Familiarity with medical EMR systems and medical terminology.
