What you will do

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks while identifying patients and verifying test requisitions.
• Prepare, label, track, and maintain the integrity of blood specimens using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Maintain quality-control records, follow testing schedules, and report required procedural changes.
• Resolve unusual or unclear test orders with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, and reference laboratories.
• Manage patient reports, answer and triage billing questions, and follow up with patients.
• Schedule specimen pickups with FedEx or Medspeed courier services.

Requirements

• At least five years of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate if required by the state.
• Ability to follow professional, hospital, federal, state, local, and JCAHO standards.
• Ability to work onsite in Rockville, Maryland.
• Scrubs are required, and the role involves tracking every blood draw.
