Issues Management Senior Communication Specialist

Location: Findlay, Ohio; Houston, Texas; or San Antonio, Texas, United States. Some travel is required.

What you will do

• Advise leaders and employees on communications strategies, messaging, stakeholder engagement, and reputation protection.
• Develop executive-level communications plans and content for complex, sensitive, sustainability, business strategy, and crisis-management topics.
• Build and implement issues-management strategies while monitoring emerging enterprise and local issues.
• Respond to media inquiries and align corporate and local positioning and messaging.
• Develop, edit, approve, and distribute articles, videos, presentations, social media posts, emails, and newsletters.
• Participate in emergency-response drills as part of the Joint Information Center under the Incident Command System and support less experienced team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience producing communications for varied channels and audiences at a large or midsized company or public relations firm.
• Demonstrated ability to lead communications initiatives from beginning to end.
• Strong communications strategy, writing, editing, content development, analytical, and presentation skills, including knowledge of Associated Press style.
• Ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, executives, media representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work in Findlay, Ohio; Houston, Texas; or San Antonio, Texas, with some travel required.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of crisis communications experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience working under the Incident Command System during emergency-response situations.
• Energy, manufacturing, industrial, or industrial public-relations experience.
