Senior Advisor, Communications (Energy)

Location: Washington, DC, United States

Salary: $95,400–$138,075 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive compensation program.

What you will do

• Advise Utilities leadership on business priorities, reputation, stakeholder engagement, and communications strategy.
• Develop and execute integrated communications plans aligned with business objectives.
• Lead executive communications, including speeches, presentations, talking points, key messages, and thought leadership.
• Manage proactive and reactive media relations and communications for complex or high-profile issues.
• Identify executive visibility opportunities through conferences, speaking engagements, awards, and external events.
• Support crisis communications planning, emergency response communications, preparedness exercises, and incident response.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of progressively responsible communications experience.
• Proven experience developing strategic communications plans and advising senior leaders.
• Strong background in executive communications, speechwriting, media relations, issues management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage sensitive, high-profile, and complex communications challenges with sound judgment.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Government Relations, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with regulated utilities, energy, infrastructure, public sector, or other critical services organizations.
• Experience managing executive social media and thought leadership programs.
• Incident Command System training or experience in emergency management.
