Equipment Engineer (Biotechnology)

Location: On-site in Sunnyvale, California, United States

Annual salary: $120,000–$135,000, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Lead the installation, qualification, validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
• Develop and maintain equipment procedures, preventive maintenance programs, calibration schedules, and SOPs.
• Coordinate field service engineer activities.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
• Apply hirify.global Business System tools to improve equipment uptime, process capability, throughput, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or biomedical engineering, life sciences, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, laboratory, or process equipment in a production environment.
• Experience with equipment qualification, validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• Experience authoring and maintaining SOPs, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.
• Experience with CMMS, calibration programs, and equipment asset management.
• Ability to work on-site in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, stand for extended periods, and lift or carry equipment up to 50 lb.

Nice to have

• Experience with nucleic acid manufacturing, oligonucleotide synthesis equipment, sequencing workflows, or similar life science production technologies.
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO 13485, FDA-regulated, or similar quality systems.
• Experience with PLC-controlled systems, automation platforms, robotic liquid handling, or process control systems.
