Sr. Sourcing Manager, Contract Manufacturing

Location: Hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA, with office attendance 2–3 days per week. Regular travel of approximately 20–30% to contract manufacturing sites and supplier locations is required.

What you will do

• Own sourcing strategy and commercial relationships across contract manufacturing, including blending, encapsulation, bottling, labeling, cartoning, and finished-goods operations.
• Lead supplier identification, diligence, qualification, contracting, onboarding, transfers, and ongoing performance management.
• Build should-cost models covering materials, labor, overhead, equipment, yield loss, testing, freight, and supplier margin.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, capacity commitments, lead times, inventory liability, service levels, and long-term agreements.
• Map manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks and operational risks, and develop improvement roadmaps with suppliers.
• Coordinate with Quality, Regulatory, Product, R&D, Supply Planning, Packaging, Logistics, and Finance on launches, transfers, scale-ups, and manufacturing changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, contract manufacturing, supplier management, manufacturing operations, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing contract manufacturers in nutraceuticals, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, cosmetics, electronics, or an equivalent industry.
• Experience leading complex supplier negotiations and senior-level commercial relationships.
• Strong should-cost, cost-driver, supplier-margin, capacity-analysis, process-mapping, line-balancing, bottleneck-identification, throughput, yield, and changeover skills.
• Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel; NetSuite or another ERP system is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system.
• Experience supporting fill-and-finish CMO sourcing, product launches, site transfers, packaging changes, or scale-ups.
