Staff Data Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: US Remote

Salary: $170,000–$200,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own implementation design across data ingestion, modeling, and data consumption layers.
• Shape the detailed architecture of a unified data platform with the architecture team.
• Design integrations across production source systems and build ingestion pipelines.
• Transform raw data into business-ready datasets with consistent metric definitions.
• Set engineering standards for data quality, testing, and safe extraction from production databases.
• Partner with data users, platform and operations teams, and mentor data engineers.

Requirements

• Substantial experience building and operating cloud data platforms, including preferably a platform designed from scratch.
• Deep SQL and strong experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
• Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework, ELT, and change-data capture across relational sources.
• Hands-on AWS experience with read replicas, object storage, and cross-region data movement.
• Experience with dimensional or medallion modeling, workflow orchestration, and data quality testing.
• Must be based in the United States for this remote role.

• Healthcare data experience, including protected health information.
• Experience with multi-tenant data isolation and semantic or metrics layer design.
• Experience with modern business intelligence and self-service reporting tools.
