Lead Data Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote - USA

Salary: $170,000–$190,000 base salary per year, plus a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Define and maintain architecture standards for the enterprise data platform, including data modeling, pipeline design, orchestration, and observability.
• Lead the technical design document process and conduct design and production-readiness reviews.
• Guide the evolution of the AWS-based data platform using Redshift, Airflow, Kafka, SQL Server, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and release management.
• Identify technical debt, platform fragmentation, scalability issues, and reliability improvements.
• Partner with engineering leaders, mentor engineers, and support adoption of new data engineering, quality, transformation, and governance tools.

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience, including technical leadership or senior individual contributor experience across multiple teams or initiatives.
• Strong experience building and supporting cloud-native data platforms in AWS environments.
• Experience with Airflow, Kafka, Redshift, PostgreSQL, or similar data platforms.
• Deep expertise in SQL, data modeling, scalable data platform architecture, orchestration, and operational reliability.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, production support, technical design documentation, monitoring, observability, data governance, lineage, and data quality.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise data warehouses and data transformation frameworks.
• Experience in commercial real estate, financial services, or another regulated industry.
