Client Office Phlebotomist Float-Full-time Days CO

Location: Various client sites in the suburbs surrounding Buffalo Grove, Illinois, United States. Travel to additional client sites is required. Must be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., two weekends per month, and flexible hours when clients start earlier or finish later.

Salary: $20.25–$27.34 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform phlebotomy and other laboratory specimen collections for infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair-bound patients.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care, identify medical assistance needs, and follow patient-safety procedures.
• Label, process, transfer, and track specimens according to established protocols.
• Record refrigerator temperatures and quality-control information, report issues, and maintain corrective-action documentation.
• Obtain physician orders, enter laboratory tests into computer systems, and follow up on outstanding orders, draws, charges, and results.
• Travel between client sites, communicate with office and laboratory staff, and complete related clerical duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization, training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution, or at least one year of healthcare phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to work onsite at client locations in the Buffalo Grove area and surrounding suburbs.
• Availability for a full-time, 40-hour schedule, including two weekends per month and flexible client-site hours.
• Ability to collect specimens from a broad range of patient types and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to travel between sites; a valid driver's license and auto insurance are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience processing and transferring laboratory specimens and handling a centrifuge.
• Experience with medical electronic medical record systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
