Director of Event Tech II - Royal Sonesta Minneapolis (Audio-Visual Events)

Location: Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. On-site work in a hotel and convention-center environment, including multiple hotel locations, irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Salary: $56,092–$72,920 per year.

What you will do

• Manage venue revenue, profitability, labor, equipment sub-rentals, billing, forecasting, and location P&L performance.
• Lead daily event operations, including scheduling, equipment setup, operation, strikes, inventory control, and safety procedures.
• Develop sales strategies, prepare quotes and proposals, support site visits, and grow customer revenue through upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
• Build relationships with customers, venue personnel, vendors, and internal departments while overseeing event execution and service quality.
• Guide technicians through audio-visual troubleshooting and act as the on-site technical expert when needed.
• Manage staffing, performance, coaching, training, employee selection, and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of audio-visual experience and 2+ years of operations or supervisory experience.
• 3+ years of customer service or hospitality experience preferred; sales experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live show environment and proficiency with computer hardware, software, Microsoft Office, and the Internet.
• Leadership, customer satisfaction, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A valid driver’s license is required for team members who operate company vehicles.
