Sr. Tooling Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Taichung City, Taiwan; full-time onsite role with up to 30% travel to manufacturing facilities and supplier locations.

What you will do

• Lead tooling development from initial design through mass-production sustaining with ODMs and contract manufacturers.
• Conduct DFM/DFA reviews covering process and material selection, tooling qualification, mold layouts, Moldflow analysis, gate placement, cooling, parting lines, and ejection systems.
• Drive tooling deliverables through Alpha, EVT, DVT, and PVT phases, including OK2TOOL and OK2FAB approvals.
• Manage supplier tooling builds, T1/T2 trials, root-cause troubleshooting, yield improvement, and manufacturing-floor support.
• Establish tooling maintenance and asset-management standards and perform supplier and tooling audits.
• Support PPAP, dimensional and cosmetic qualification, should-cost analysis, capacity evaluation, cost reduction, and cycle-time optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with plastic injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping or bending, and tooling fabrication in high-volume manufacturing.
• Knowledge of tool design, tool steel selection, mold and die fabrication, heat treatment, CNC machining, deburring, plating, and surface finishing.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and simulation tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, Moldflow, or equivalent CAE tooling analysis software.
• Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, GD&T, engineering drawings, PPAP, ISO/IATF 16949, 8D, DOE, Kaizen, and SPC.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required for collaboration with global teams and international suppliers.
