Staff Engineer, System Test Network (Networking)

Salary: $144,400–$216,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Design, configure, and maintain scalable networks for HIL laboratories, integration environments, simulation systems, and shared test infrastructure.
• Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLANs, routing, multicast, quality of service, access controls, redundancy, and time synchronization.
• Develop networking software, configuration-as-code, automation tools, validation utilities, and repeatable deployment workflows.
• Integrate switches, routers, firewalls, servers, simulators, flight computers, sensors, radios, and other hardware into representative HIL and program environments.
• Develop and execute tests covering connectivity, interoperability, throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, multicast behavior, failover, and load performance.
• Build network observability, troubleshoot distributed-system issues, maintain technical baselines, and support customer demonstrations and evaluations.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Ethernet and TCP/IP networking knowledge, including switching, routing, subnetting, VLANs, multicast, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and QoS.
• Hands-on experience with managed switches, routers, firewalls, Linux hosts, and networked computing systems.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for network automation, configuration generation, API integration, test development, or infrastructure tooling.
• Experience with structured network or system testing and tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf, traffic generators, telemetry, and application logs.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomous systems, avionics, flight testing, or other mission-critical programs.
• Experience with HIL, SIL, or VIL environments, real-time simulation, flight computers, sensors, vehicle networks, or aircraft integration laboratories.
• Advanced multicast routing, precision time protocol, deterministic networking, traffic shaping, redundancy, or high-availability experience.
• Experience with Ansible, Netmiko, NAPALM, Terraform, vendor APIs, virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, or software-defined networking.
• Experience with tactical MANET and mesh-radio systems, including Persistent Systems MPU5/Wave Relay and Silvus StreamCaster.
