Community Engagement Intern

Location: Chester, Virginia; candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location and be willing to travel throughout Central Virginia.

Salary: $17.40–$29.30

What you will do

• Support public relations projects, charitable giving campaigns, and community volunteer events.
• Represent Columbia Gas of Virginia at community events and communicate messages about energy efficiency, safe digging, energy assistance, renewable energy, and career opportunities.
• Create news, social media, photo, and video content for internal and external communications channels.
• Maintain community stakeholder lists and research opportunities to expand customer outreach.
• Develop strategies to track community engagement and measure outreach results.
• Collaborate with Communications on engagement strategies for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Undergraduate studies in public relations, communications, social work, or a related field.
• Rising junior or senior status, entering the relevant year in fall 2027.
• Strong writing and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Intermediate Canva skills and intermediate Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
• Photography, videography, or editing experience; willingness to travel to community events is required.
