Mission Operations Specialist (Defense Technology)

Location: Remote, based out of San Diego, United States. The role is field-oriented and requires domestic travel of up to 30% plus occasional international travel. An active U.S. security clearance or willingness and ability to obtain one is required.

Base salary: $75,000–$110,000 per year.

What you will do

• Install hirify.global hardware, sensors, networking equipment, and cabling on military and commercial platforms.
• Configure and update software applications, Windows/Linux operating systems, and system images.
• Execute installation procedures, startup checklists, and operational verification tests.
• Travel to customer sites and lead on-site integration, upgrades, and preventative maintenance with Mission Deployment Engineers.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and installation issues, escalating complex problems when needed.
• Document installations, equipment configurations, test results, and deployment kit readiness.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of experience with technical equipment, field installations, electronics, networking, IT systems, or related hands-on technologies.
• Proficiency with hand tools, basic electronic test equipment, Windows, and Ethernet/IP communications.
• Hands-on experience with hardware assembly, software installation, system testing, and technical troubleshooting in field environments.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to read basic technical procedures; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Associate degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Active U.S. security clearance or ability and willingness to obtain one; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience with Surface Navy vessels, especially LCS.
• Military technical experience in electronics, communications, aviation, maritime, maintenance, IT, or defense.
• Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, maritime, rail, or industrial customers.
• Familiarity with Linux, multimeters, logic analyzers, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, ruggedized computers, sensors, or networking equipment.
