Senior Consultant - Automotive Cybersecurity Professional

Location: Remote within the United States; office location in Troy, Michigan. Projects may require regular travel to client sites and other UL locations.

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 USD annually, plus target annual bonus compensation of 10% of base salary.

What you will do

• Lead the development of ISO/SAE 21434 processes, templates, and cybersecurity work products, including TARA, cybersecurity concepts, specifications, assessments, validation reports, and cybersecurity cases.
• Develop ISO 24089 processes and software update management work products for vehicle software update programs.
• Create processes supporting UN Regulations No. 155 and 156.
• Apply secure software development, coding, design, and verification expertise to software-intensive and safety-relevant systems.
• Lead business development activities, including statements of work, budget estimates, proposals, and client-funded projects.
• Lead large client programs, provide technical guidance, participate in standards committees, and contribute to business strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, computer science, mechanical, automotive, robotics, software, or mechatronics engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with ISO 21434, cybersecurity management systems, automotive cybersecurity risk management, incident response, and cybersecurity monitoring.
• Hands-on software development experience, including coding, secure software design, and software lifecycle practices for embedded or safety-relevant systems.
• Experience with ISO 24089 and software update management systems, including vehicle software update campaigns and securing update infrastructure.
• Experience with secure vehicle architecture, ASPICE for Cybersecurity, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, OWASP, and automotive security testing.
• Must be based in the United States for this remote role.

Nice to have

• Additional experience with vehicle-level security controls, secure onboard communication, secure boot, network segmentation, secure coding, and secure architecture.
• Knowledge of ISO 26262, SOTIF, and the Cybersecurity Resilience Act.
• Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, fuzz testing, application security testing, software supply chain security, and vendor security assessments.
