What you will do

• Design and implement backend features across Rails-based services and Go microservices.
• Lead the decomposition of the Rails monolith into independently deployable microservices.
• Build and maintain APIs for internal operational tools including risk dashboards and projection management.
• Optimize database queries and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure system resilience under load.
• Mentor Software Engineers I, II, and III through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and QA to translate operational goals into technical solutions.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience with production time in both Ruby on Rails and Go.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).
• Experience with monolith-to-microservices migrations and distributed systems.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of API design (REST/gRPC) and asynchronous workflows (Sidekiq, message queues).

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures using Pulsar, Kafka, or NATS.
• Familiarity with infrastructure tooling such as Terraform and ArgoCD.
• Experience in high-traffic real-time systems (sports, gaming, fintech, or adtech).
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools in the software lifecycle.
