Electrical Service Technician (Wind Energy)

Location: Livingston, United Kingdom; onsite. The role involves regular travel to wind turbine sites across the UK, with possible travel to Germany and elsewhere in Europe, including stays of 2–3 weeks away from home when required.

What you will do

• Install, retrofit, maintain, and repair electrical components on wind turbines.
• Diagnose faults in electrical equipment and produce weekly and monthly paper and digital reports.
• Climb wind turbines regularly and complete work at height in accordance with current training and safety requirements.
• Complete electrical maintenance schedules, risk assessments, and method statements efficiently and on time.
• Once qualified, perform 35 kV high-voltage switching and other high-voltage duties.
• Coordinate with in-house technicians and the service coordinator, manage van stock, and support teams at sites across the UK and Europe.

Requirements

• Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ qualification in electrical or engineering studies.
• Completed time-served apprenticeship and previous commercial electrical or engineering experience.
• Proficiency with IT packages, including Microsoft Excel.
• Full, clean driving licence.
• Physical ability to climb wind turbines and work at height regularly.
• Ability to complete mandatory training in wind turbine safety, electrical operations, high-voltage switching, and refresher courses.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a similar role within the wind energy sector.
• Experience assisting with mechanical tasks.

• Monday to Friday working hours from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with weekend on-call cover on a rota basis.
