TL;DR
Electrical Service Technician - Perth (Wind Energy): Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and reporting on ENERCON wind turbines with an accent on electrical maintenance, component retrofitting, high-voltage switching, and safe work at height. Focus on diagnosing electrical faults, completing maintenance schedules, producing service reports, and travelling to wind energy sites across the UK and Europe.

Location: Perth, United Kingdom; onsite. The role involves regular travel to wind turbine sites across the UK, with occasional travel to Germany and elsewhere in Europe, and stays of up to 2–3 weeks away from home when required.

What you will do

  • Install, retrofit, maintain, and service electrical components on wind energy converters.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and report findings on wind turbine equipment.
  • Climb wind turbines regularly and perform work at height in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Complete electrical maintenance schedules, risk assessments, method statements, and weekly and monthly reports.
  • Once qualified, perform 35 kV high-voltage switching and related duties.
  • Coordinate with in-house technicians and the Service Coordinator, manage van stock, and assist with mechanical tasks when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ qualification in Electrical or Engineering.
  • Completed time-served apprenticeship and previous commercial electrical or engineering experience.
  • Ability to work at height and maintain physical fitness for regular turbine climbs.
  • Full, clean driving licence and proficiency with IT packages, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, provide weekend on-call cover on a rota basis, and travel as required.
  • Successful completion of mandatory wind turbine safety, electrical, high-voltage switching, and refresher training.
