Sr. Ocean Marine Underwriter, Account Executive Officer (Ocean Marine)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Salary: $109,300–$180,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned ocean marine insurance portfolio.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts in line with the company’s risk appetite.
• Build relationships with agents, brokers, and internal business partners to develop sales and cross-selling opportunities.
• Market and sell ocean marine products, identify new business, and retain suitable accounts.
• Develop and execute agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
• Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including Ocean Marine experience, preferred for the target profile.
• Deep knowledge of Ocean Marine products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• CPCU designation.
