Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer (DeltaV/PLC)

Location: Thousand Oaks, California, United States; onsite manufacturing support with rotational 24/7 on-call coverage

What you will do

• Develop and maintain process control automation solutions using Emerson DeltaV DCS, Rockwell PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
• Provide manufacturing support, troubleshoot plant automation issues, and lead root cause analyses, incident investigations, deviations, CAPA, and change controls.
• Support process equipment, cleaning systems, utilities, building management systems, preventive and corrective maintenance, and automation system administration.
• Lead new technology introductions, automation configuration changes, engineering assessments, process qualification runs, and capital project lifecycle activities.
• Drive continuous improvements in safety, reliability, efficiency, environmental sustainability, data integrity, and batch record functionality.
• Collaborate with drug substance plant operations and the broader hirify.global network while supporting regulatory inspections and audits.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree; or a master's degree with 3 years, bachelor's degree with 5 years, associate degree with 8 years, or high school diploma/GED with 10 years of manufacturing automation engineering experience.
• 5+ years of combined experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS, Rockwell Automation SCADA and PLC platforms, electronic batch reporting, process control network design, and virtual infrastructure.
• Experience with OPC, Profibus, Serial VIM, Ethernet, DeviceNet, network segregation, system integration, and advanced automation troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11, S88, S95, GAMP, equipment validation, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong technical writing, leadership, communication, presentation, facilitation, collaboration, organization, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to provide direct manufacturing support and participate in a rotational 24/7 on-call schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with clinical or commercial drug substance plant operations, including upstream and downstream unit operations.
• Knowledge of GMP biopharmaceutical equipment and systems such as media, harvest, bioreactors, chromatography, filtration, and ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
• Experience delivering continuous improvements in safety, system reliability, productivity, and utility usage.
• Capital project lifecycle experience covering conceptual design, scope, cost estimates, detailed design, validation documentation, and execution.
