Senior AI Platform Engineer

Location: Remote (any location); hybrid work is flexible depending on candidate location. Listed locations include Belgrade, Serbia and Lisbon, Porto, or Braga, Portugal.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production-grade REST APIs and backend services for the Data Hub and agent workflows.
• Integrate open-source and commercial AI and LLM capabilities, including RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector search, and model routing.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations that feed the Business Knowledge Graph.
• Own service reliability, performance, security, monitoring, cost management, and scalability.
• Collaborate with AI Product Engineers on tool endpoints, retrieval APIs, data contracts, and other platform primitives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software development experience, with Python as the primary language for AI-adjacent work.
• Proven experience designing and shipping production APIs and distributed services.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM and AI APIs, including Anthropic, OpenAI, or open-weight models through vLLM or Ollama.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL retrieval architectures using pgvector and pg_search, including chunking and hybrid vector/full-text search.
• Familiarity with MCP, cloud-native deployment, containerization, and CI/CD; Azure is preferred, while AWS and GCP experience is transferable.
• Daily hands-on use of Claude Code or a comparable AI coding agent is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Neo4j, graph databases, knowledge graphs, or ontology-backed systems.
• Exposure to MLflow or another experiment-tracking and model-lifecycle tool.
• Hands-on experience with Prefect or Airflow for data and processing pipelines.
• Working knowledge of LlamaIndex or another RAG framework.
• Experience with Azure AI, Databricks, or enterprise data platforms, especially in legal, architecture/engineering/construction, or ERP domains.
