AI Engineer (Python)

Location: Hybrid work from the SMG office in Belgrade, Serbia

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and operate scalable LLM-powered applications, including chatbots, RAG systems, summarization, classification, and evaluation pipelines.
• Own generative AI solutions from prototyping and architecture through deployment, monitoring, scaling, and continuous improvement.
• Integrate large language models with internal data sources using embeddings, retrieval techniques, vector search, and search infrastructure.
• Build reliable ML and GenAI pipelines covering data ingestion, model orchestration, evaluation, deployment, observability, and alerting.
• Deploy AI and ML systems on AWS and GCP and develop production-grade APIs, services, and integrations.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product stakeholders, and business teams to define objectives, metrics, and production requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with an ML or AI background.
• Strong Python skills and experience writing clean, performant, testable, and maintainable code.
• Production experience with ML, AI, or LLM-based systems and end-to-end ownership of RAG, chatbot, information retrieval, or AI assistant solutions.
• Experience with LLMs, GenAI APIs, MLOps or LLMOps, cloud infrastructure, APIs, pipelines, CI/CD, containerization, infrastructure as code, and observability.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, search systems, large heterogeneous datasets, and production incident handling.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
